About Me

About me

Early Inspirations and Passions

My journey began in New Jersey, 1968. As a young boy in Cub Scouts and Webelos, I was always eager to learn and create, whether crafting in leatherwork or speeding to victory in the Pinewood Derby. My early days were filled with discovery and learning, from performing magic tricks to starring in school plays. Even then, I had a knack for captivating an audience, a skill that would later become invaluable.

At age 10, my family's move to New Mexico opened a new chapter of adventures. In Taos, I embraced the thrill of skiing and horseback riding, challenging myself on the slopes of Taos Ski Valley and learning the art of riding at the Indian Horse Ranch. I quickly adapted to the local culture, even riding in the Taos Fiesta parade, embracing the spirit of my new home.

Teenage Tinkerer: My Journey into Computing

At 14, I dived headfirst into the world of computing, purchasing my first Atari 400 with money saved from a summer job. This machine was more than just a computer; it was a gateway to limitless possibilities.

I spent countless hours learning Atari Basic, programming games, and exploring the frontiers of digital creativity. The Apple IIe at school and my best friend’s house became another playground for my growing programming skills. In these early tech adventures, I found my calling.

Career Path and Achievements

My career journey reflects a blend of technical innovation and creative pursuits. Starting as an independent software developer for Atari at 22, I later programmed multimedia applications for TRW Space and Defense (now Northrup Grumman). My skills expanded to AJAX, Python for AI apps, and various programming languages.

In multimedia, I served as a master controller at SFCC/CATV 6, worked on defense projects, and taught digital art at SFCC for 3 years. My artistry spans 2D, 3D, AI, and animation. Notably, I authored a book on Realm Crafter, designed for CORE Metaverse, and developed RPG expansions, showcasing my diverse capabilities in the evolving tech landscape.

Earning my AAS in Digital Art from Santa Fe Community College through a unique path, I accrued credits while teaching its required courses. This serendipitous achievement embodies my hands-on approach and belief in practical, experiential learning, merging real-world skills with academic insights.

Beyond the Screen: A Glimpse into My World

My personal interests and hobbies reflect a lifetime of diverse experiences and creative exploration. From an early age, I was actively involved in outdoor activities like skiing and horseback riding, nurtured through my time in New Jersey and later in New Mexico. My passion for technology and creativity was evident in my teenage years as I delved into programming on my first computer, an Atari 400, and explored the realms of digital art and animation. Theatre and improvisation have also been significant parts of my life, allowing me to express my artistic side. My love for multimedia and technology seamlessly blends with these creative outlets, shaping my personal and professional life. Today, I continue to pursue these interests alongside my career, finding joy and fulfillment in the synergy between technology, art, and community engagement.

Gaming Journey: A Lifelong Passion

My journey in the world of gaming began with family game nights, a tradition that ignited my enduring love for games. It all started with engaging classics like Mille Bornes, which laid the foundation for my deep dive into the realm of role-playing games. Titles like Dungeons & Dragons, Gamma World, and Shadowrun weren't just games to me; they were gateways to imaginative worlds where I could bring stories to life as the game master. My creativity found further expression in miniature tabletop combat games such as BattleTech and Star Fleet Battles, where strategy and narrative combined in exciting ways.

As the founder of the Santa Fe Gamer’s Guild, I fostered a community for fellow gaming enthusiasts, creating a shared space for adventure and camaraderie. My commitment to gaming went beyond playing; I contributed to the gaming world by creating numerous adventures, support materials, and engaging content that enriched the gaming experience for others.

My role as the game master in various campaigns allowed me to develop a unique storytelling style, enhancing my skills in narrative development and character creation. These experiences have not only been a source of joy and entertainment but also a significant influence on my work in game design and interactive media. Gaming for me transcends being a mere hobby; it is an integral part of my identity, shaping my approach to creativity and community engagement.

Theater and Performance: A World of Expression

My love for theater began in New Jersey, where as a child, I was captivated by magic tricks and school plays. This early fascination blossomed into a lifelong passion for performance and storytelling.

In New Mexico, my theatrical journey expanded through improv and stop-motion animation. Joining Santa Fe High School's "Spectrum," I explored dynamic, issue-based theater, which refined my improvisational skills and revealed the power of theater in communication.

My experience extended beyond acting to technical expertise in special effects makeup and stage lighting for productions like "MASH" and "Camelot." Voice acting added another dimension, allowing me to bring diverse characters to life, inspired by talents like Rich Little and Mel Blanc.

From performing in school plays to solo singing at medieval bardic competitions, my theater and performance endeavors have been a constant source of joy and a key influencer in my creative work across game design and multimedia production.

Theater for me is more than a hobby; it's a pivotal aspect of my identity. It's a realm where imagination thrives, each performance an opportunity to inspire and connect.

Making a Difference: My Commitment to Community and Compassion

In addition to my diverse personal and professional pursuits, I am deeply committed to giving back to the community. I actively support several charitable organizations, including the Santa Fe Animal Shelter, the Christopher Reeve Foundation, and the Carcinoid Cancer Foundation.

This dedication to social causes reflects my belief in using my skills and success to make a positive impact in the world, further enriching the tapestry of experiences that define my life beyond the screen.
